Going Into 2023 With A Decluttered Home

Clearance Services

The past year has been a challenging time for many of us. With more time spent at home due to the pandemic, clutter can start to accumulate and make your space feel cramped and disorganised. Fortunately, it’s never too late to get your house in order so that you can start off 2023 with a decluttered home. Having a tidy and organised home is key to relieving stress and improving productivity.

Creating A Plan Of Action

Creating a plan to clear your home is an important step in achieving a clutter-free living space. It can be difficult to know where to start and how much time you will need, but with a bit of planning, it’s possible to make progress towards your goal.

Firstly, take the time to assess the situation. This will help you figure out how long it might take you to get everything in order. Secondly, break up the clearance task into smaller tasks that are more manageable for you – this could include sorting items by their desired destination or creating donation piles for charity shops. Finally, make sure that wherever possible try and keep things organised as you go along so that it doesn’t become overwhelming again once cleared!

Using A System

As mentioned briefly above, creating a pile or system to categorise items that need to go can speed up the entire process. Post-it notes are a great way to colour code items based on their purpose, yellow notes for items that need disposal and green notes for items that should be sold or donated to charity. Approaching your house clearance systematically will ensure that the process goes smoothly.

Selling/Donating Your Items

After you have gone room to room and collected an assortment of items, you will have the choice of whether to sell, dispose or donate the items. Selling online has never been easier, with platforms such as eBay, Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace allowing you to list nearly anything. You could also donate clothes, tech and books to charity shops. If you have items that are faulty, broken or unsellable you may be urged to dispose of them.

How To Approach The Disposal

The disposal of items can be a strenuous process. Certain items or waste must be disposed of based on the material and size. If you have a lot to get rid of, you may have to take multiple trips back and forth to your local recycling or landfill centre. You should always check whether the centre accepts the waste you need to dispose of to prevent complications in the future.
